Hello Asheville!
Episode 18 of AVL Food Fans is in the can! Click the link to listen to or download:
http://www.spreaker.com/18-the-awesome-power-of-juice
We start by delivering the Food News with Lucy Murphy from the Asheville Independent Restaurant Association, which includes stories about Oskar Blues Brewery, L’hotel De Ville, The Flint Water Crisis, Farm Burger Asheville, High Wire Brewery, Asheville Screen Printing, Short Street Cakes, Tonic MRKT, NORML, Green Man Brewery, French Broad Food Co-op, Mojo Kitchen & Lounge, SNAP, and Brother Wolf Animal Rescue‘s Cat Cafe (no update).

Lucy eyeballs the pakoras, and empanadas from Chai Pani and MG Road.
After the news, we talk with Jenny Lumb and Shannon Gilpatrick from Nourish & Flourish juice bar and wellness center (Depot st in the RAD), who were great guests! Joe admits that he wasn’t excited about juice, but after talking to Shannon and Jenny, he’s pumped to go in to Nourish and Flourish to cure what ails him with the awesome power of juice!

L-R: Jenny Lumb, co-owner of Nourish & Flourish; where Shannon Gilpatrick works behind the counter.
At the end of the show, Joe and I talk about the places we’ve eaten at since the previous show. Those shops include: Smoky Park Supper Club, Buxton Hall Barbecue, Vortex Doughnuts, Limones, Cúrate, Sovereign Remedies, Rhu, High Five Coffee, PennyCup Coffee Co., Hopey & Company, Bhramari Brewhouse, HOLE – Hot Doughnuts and Fresh Coffee, The Blackbird, Double D’s Coffee and Desserts, Izzys Coffee Den, Isa’s Bistro, and Chestnut.
It’s a fun show, even though we touch on a couple of super-heavy topics (suicide and racism) and it was made even better by our friends at Chai Pani, who styled-us-out with some of their insanely good chicken and kale pakoras! Chef Papaya from MG Road also sent over some of her delicious arepas! Best of Asheville, Yo!
