ERMERGERD! TER-SHERTS!!!

I met Jacob Ballard from Asheville Screen Printing at a party last year, where he told me all about their operation, and how they’ll be opening a new location on Patton Ave soon. He also invited me to be one of the local artists that they will feature at the retail shop. Jacob is a real can-do guy, with some really great partners, so all of that is coming to fruition, and the new shop will be having its grand opening on Thursday, February 11th, from 5:30 – 7:30pm at 1328 Patton Avenue, Suite B. in West Asheville.

There will be food and drinks at the opening, so you know I’ll be there, and my three designs will be available to purchase during and after the grand opening! I did three designs — with one alternative — and kept them all food-related for you. Here they are…

PUNK ROCK HOT DOGS SHIRT (FEATURING BUNNY)

The Punk Rock Hot Dogs logo T-shirt features the mascot, Bunny. Punk Rock Hot Dogs is a recurring “Pop-Up” dinner thingy that I do sometimes here in Asheville. Even if you’ve never been to one of my Punk Rock Hot Dog nights, you can still look awesome in a T-shirt, and you can be super-cool when you wear it to the NEXT Pop-Up!

ROACH COACH SHIRT (WITH TACO)

“Roach Coach” is slang for Food Truck. When I worked at a warehouse in Boston, the roach coach would roll-up every day at noon, and all the workers would gather around it for lunch. Mehhhh-mor-eeees…. Anyhoo, so I drew this cartoon of a cockroach chef, with his rat partner, driving a food truck as my personal homage to the roach coaches of the world.

ROACH COACH SHIRT ALT (WITH JOINT)

Same exact shirt as above, but instead of a taco in one hand, the cockroach is holding a marijuana joint, that has been smoked down to a roach.

Asheville Screen Printing expands into storefront on Patton Ave; Grand Opening party to be held February 11, 2016.

West Asheville, NC – Asheville Screen Printing, a local, full-service printing company has expanded into a storefront at 1328 Patton Avenue, Suite B.

The almost 2 year-old company had previously been operating in facilities at a smaller location. Despite these humble origins, the company has already printed shirts for some of the most notable businesses in the area – Hi Wire Brewing, Roots Hummus, Catawba Brewing, Oskar Blues, 98.1 The River, and Rockys Chicken Shack, just to name a few.

“The new space means better visibility and a more accommodating place, right in the heart of beautiful West Asheville” says Jacob Ballard, Founder & Co-Owner. “We can’t wait to become more active with artists in the community.”

The increased size of the facility is also a boom to production. Co-Owner and Head Printer Timm Watrous explains, “We’ll be able to fit in a second press, which will help us a lot with turnaround times and specialty printing.”

In their quest to be Asheville’s premier t-shirt and speciality printer, Asheville Screen Printing is also improving its web presence. Their new website, focusing on the customer experience, launched this month featuring an e-commerce store. In addition, the company is one of the only in the area to provide onsite live printing services. You’ll find their booth at events like the Hot Chocolate 10K, The Goombay Festival, Asheville Wing Wars and more.

The public is invited to celebrate the company’s expansion at the Grand Opening party on Thursday, February 11th, from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. There will be free food and drinks, live printing, and a t-shirt sale featuring designs by local artists such as Evans Prater (MountInspiration.com) and Stu Helm (stuhelmfoodfan.wordpress.com).

There will also be giveaways and a lucrative raffle – the winner gets 24 t-shirts printed with their design or business logo.
