I started doing in the “Stoobie Awards,” now called the Asheville Food Fan Awards in 2013, the same year I began writing food reviews for Ashvegas, and I have done them every year — in one form or another — ever since. They are superlatives, best ofs if you will, in a variety of categories, for excellence in the local food scene, that I publish every January for the previous year.
When I first started writing these awards, nobody really cared LOL but now days, there are plaques and stickers on walls and in windows all over town that the winners display with pride.
