I like to team-up with the local food vendors, makers, promoters, etc in Asheville to do fun contests in which the readers have a chance to win free food. Because I know how much everyone loves free food. Right? Seriously. Free food is the best thing ever! So, here’s the latest contest…
Food Fans Win Chef’s Tasting Menu Dinner for Two!

brought to you by
Chef Philip Bollhoefer, The Monford Rooftop Bar, and Stu Helm

Holy moly, you guys. This might be THEE best contest I’ve EVER done!!!
YOU could win an intimate evening, at one of Asheville’s most elegant venues, with stunning views of the mountains and the Montford neighborhood, from the 8th floor, at The Montford Rooftop Bar! Local food, presented with honesty, style, and thoughtful preparation by one of Asheville’s finest kitchen masters, Chef Philip Bollhoefer.
If you’ve already been to the Montford Rooftop Bar, then you know how amazing the views are, how stylish the decor is, and you know that the menu — developed from day-one by Chef Bollhoefer — is as fresh, local, high-end, and delicious as anything you’re ever likely to eat in your life. True story, Yo.
Way up, atop the Hyatt Hotel (on the corner of Haywood St. and Montford Ave.), you’ll find Philip working in his tiny kitchen, using locally sourced meat, vegetables, condiments, and baked goods almost exclusively. I recently had a fancy brunch at the Rooftop that highlighted various breads and pastries from OWL Bakery. Um. Yeah. It was frickin’ awesome! I featured the food on my Instagram page for a week.
Above: Country Cook, Philip Bollhoefer workin’ at a hoedown of some kind.
Whether he’s working with Asheville’s food makers, growers, and foragers, or doing all of those things — and I mean all of them — himself, Philip is a hyper-locally-focused chef, and one of my favorites. I am a fan of his food, and of him. He has a quiet, down-played sense of humor, and a polite and formal, though not stuffy or stodgy demeanor. He’s smart, funny, and charming, and I have always enjoyed his company very much. Now is your chance to enjoy the company of Chef Philip, and try his food, by entering to win this contest, and enjoy a complimentary Chef’s Tasting Table for Two!
Now is your chance to enjoy the company of Chef Philip, and try his food, on the house!
You can be eligible to win a wonderful, intimate, one of a kind meal for two, designed and served to you directly by Chef Philip, just by scrolling down and entering to win this contest!
