As is the case every year, the judges are given no indication of who’s burger is who’s, this is a blind taste test. The entries are served on color-coded plates that match to a score sheet that the judges take notes on, and rate the competitors on a 1 – 10 scale, with 10 being best. Judges do occasionally dip into the negative numbers, but that’s rare. My scores this year went from a disappointing 3 to a perfect 10. My personal top 5, in descending order, were…

I asked Facebook to weigh in with nominees for best mac ‘n’ cheese in Asheville, and there were some great suggestions, most of which I didn’t necessarily disagree with, but I definitely have my own thoughts about who has the best Mac ‘n’ Cheese in town. Here’s one of those thoughts.
I’m sad to say that I’m probably in the worst shape I’ve been in since I was in my 30’s, when I barely moved, I ate crap all day, drank gallons of beer, smoked packs of cigarettes, and was a slacker of epic proportions. Glorious days, Yo, but being in crap shape is not good, especially when Ol’ Grandfather Time comes a’knockin’! And you eat cheeseburgers for a living. I need exercise, STAT!
